Lakes of Dumrea: Discover the Wonderful Lakes near Elbasan

In the territory of Dumrea there are many natural lakes that have been formed as a result of karstic phenomena that have occurred and continue today in smaller proportions. Their total area is about 640 ha. Water holding capacity 26 million m3 of water. The beauties of these lakes have attracted the attention of various local and foreign visitors who can also be used for tourism. These lakes are used for fishing and irrigation of agricultural crops. They have different sizes and depths. The lakes are rich and with fish mainly natural carp, cultivated carp, bald eagle, amur, etc., and in some lakes grow eels as endogenous species.

In the lakes of Dumre grow wild ducks, otters, and wild geese which are migratory birds. The size of the lakes ranges from 500m2 to 968,000m2 (lake of Çestije). Depth ranges from 5m to 61m (lake of Merhojë). They are mainly lakes which are filled by falling rainfall. Trout is present in many of these lakes but mostly in the lakes of Belsh, Seferan, Cestija, Çerrages. The lakes have rich flora, they have lilies (yellow lekoi and white lekoi, located in the lake of Seferani, Dega, Çerraga). Some of the most picturesque lakes of Dumrea are: Lake Belshi, Merhoja, Seferani, Cestija, Dega, Red Lake, Paraska and Marinza. To see a video click here.
